Vocational Site Training
It is our pleasure to offer job training skills to some of our young adults in our community. To me, "it takes a village". This program was inspired by my daughter Rachel. She is on the autism spectrum (Asperger's Syndrome) and needed a little help gaining real job skills. Here she is learning how to greet and help customers, work on the cash register, helping with inventory and computer data input. These are all skills that will take her out "into the world". My hope is that more small businesses in our community will open their doors to these young adults.
These people are not broken.
Their lives have value and they deserve to be accepted and included.

Meet our Interns:
|

Hi - my name is Rachel. I am 21 years old and just accepted my High School diploma. I am excited about working in the store and learning new skills. One day I hope to work with animals. UPDATE: we are happy to let you know that Rachel has moved on and is now part of the SEARCH program here in McHenry County. She is currently working internships within the hospital.

Jamie is currently working at Jewel and interning at fiddlestiks. She is learning to talk and greet customers and work on the register.

Welcome to Mackenzie! She joined our store in early October. She has made great progress since she started with us including data entry, learning the cash register and we have pulled her into the crafting world. She is making items which she sells in the store.
If you have a person you feel would be a great candidate to intern in our store, please send an email to
